Recipients of the Korean Defense Service Medal are now able to purchase Pennsylvania license plates honoring their military service.
The Korean Defense Service Medal was created in 2004 to honor those men and women who defended the Korean border, including the surrounding waters and airspace, in the period after the signing of the cease-fire agreement in July 1953.
The cost of a special plate is a one-time fee of $20 in addition to the regular annual registration fee for the vehicle.
Special plates are also available for veterans or the Korean War in general, as well as veterans of several other conflicts, including Pearl Harbor survivors, the Vietnam Conflict, World War II, the first Persian Gulf War and the more recent Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
