Harper to Host Blood Drive March 16
BLUE BELL – Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, and according to the American Red Cross, more than 36,000 units of red blood cells, 7,000 units of platelets and 10,000 units of plasma are needed every day to meet that demand.

Rep. Kate Harper (R-Montgomery) is once again joining with Whitpain Township to give local residents the opportunity to donate a pint at her annual Blood Drive and Legislative Information Day on Friday, March 16, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Whitpain Township Building in Blue Bell.

“The Red Cross is always in need of blood donors, but the need is especially great in the late winter and early spring, as donations tend to decrease during the cold winter months,” Harper said. “I hope you’ll join me in rolling up our sleeves to help others. It’s quick, easy and saves lives.”

Persons in good health can donate a unit of blood as often as every eight weeks. People age 17 and older are eligible to donate. Teens who are 16 years of age may do so with the written permission of their parents.

To schedule an appointment to donate blood at Harper’s blood drive, call her office at 610-277-3230 or visit KateHarper.net and click on the “Blood Drive” button in the right column. Enter the sponsor code “Kate Harper” and choose your donation time. The event is held in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

In addition to the blood drive, visitors to the Whitpain Township building will have the opportunity to talk with Harper’s Blue Bell office staff about state government programs and services.

The Whitpain Township Building is located at 960 Wentz Road in Blue Bell.
