Area Lawmakers to Host Veterans Expo Nov. 20
Education, employment and benefit services to be available
BLUE BELL – Local lawmakers are encouraging veterans of all ages to join them for a Veterans Expo on Monday, Nov. 20, in College Hall at Montgomery County Community College.

The expo, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, is designed to provide veterans with access to a wealth of information about health care, education, workforce opportunities and more. The event is jointly hosted by Congressman Patrick Meehan (R-PA) and state Reps. Kate Harper (R-Montgomery), Tom Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) and Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery).

“The expo will offer valuable information for everyone, whether you are a veteran who retired from the service decades ago, a veteran who is just beginning your transition back to civilian life or a veteran anywhere in between,” Harper said.

Nearly three dozen organizations have registered to participate in the expo, including Salus University, which is hosting free health screenings. These screenings will include an initial intake, hearing, vision, balance and cognitive/communication screenings, as well as plans for follow-up care in partnership with the Corporal Michael Crescenz VA Medical Center.

The Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds will be on site to issue ID cards to Montgomery County Veterans (a DD214 and photo ID are required for ID card issuance).

Mortgage Network Inc. will be available to talk with veterans and ensure they understand all of the housing benefits that are available to them.
